About the Project: Salt River Fields, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, began construction November of 2009, and opened 14 months later in February of 2011. Stretching across 140 acres with views of Camelback Mountain, the McDowell Mountains, Four Peaks, Red Mountain, and the Superstition Mountains, it is a stadium complex in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community & is the first MLB park to have been built on Indigenous land. The stadium stands in the middle & is surrounded by batting cages, practice fields, and clubhouses, along with a tradition Native American Ramada to keep the occupants cooled.

This project was on an aggressive, fast-paced schedule, and the turf of the fields is engineered Tifway 419 Bermuda Grass grown in Eloy, Az. While most go to the complex to view spring training, various food & music festivals are also hosted on the grounds. This facility has broken the all-time record for Major League Spring Training attendance, with a crowd of 359,308 during the Cactus league exhibition season. It has been awarded LEED Gold Certification for New Construction, making it the first certified Spring Training facility to have received this.
