About the Project: Fort Huachuca is home to the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM)/9th Army Signal Command & 48+ tenants representing a diverse population. The Fort stands 15 miles north of the Mexico border in Cochise County. The Army Installation was established in 1877, annexed by Sierra Vista in 1971, and declared a national landmark in 1976.
It is one of the largest employers in Cochise County & a large economic contributor in Arizona. The Base has its own school district, the Fort Huachuca Accommodation Schools, that goes up until 8th Grade. The Fort spans approximately 76,000 acres, along with two museums: the Ft. Huachuca Museum and the U.S. Army Intelligence Museum. The Fort Huachuca Airfield is part of the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport, which is a joint civil-military airport.
